Windows Vista - OS Installation costs 30GB of HardDrive already. Holy blessing.

Windows 7 - 500 Software Engineers work to improve this and renew the Vista Image. This is still based on the Vista source code.

Windows XP - Best OS ever and the fastest and stable.. D. Really simplify the virtual world desk and proving the "XP"=Windows "Experience".

I think it is not 30 GB of the HDD. Windows Vista Ultimate only takes up around 16GB.

Actually, Windows Vista is based from Windows 7. Vista was first based from XP then later obtain the features of Windows 7. Vista was just considered as a minor release of Microsoft causing the development of windows 7 to be delayed. Windows 7 is supposed to be released after XP but to some reason, Microsoft released Vista.

That explains the Stability of the windows vista OS.

if you're purpose is performance. It's safe to downgrade to XP. Choose the OS that suites your needs. There are applications in Vista that are buggy in XP, vice versa. Since you mentioned about you laptop, know first whether downgrading to XP wont disable some essential features of you laptop. Very Happy *BOW*

If you really know how much your gaming PC can handle install VISTA ULTIMATE and let the bugs start rolling!!! And if ur PC still rocks then your guaranteed that Windows 7 will bow down to your Heavenly PC.

by the way Vista Index Score Rating only reaches a maximum of 5.9 while Windows 7 goes up to 7.9. In order to achieve a perfect 7.9 Windows 7 score, users will have to buy a computer powered by at least an 8 core processor. However, the processor is simply not enough. Customers will also have to feed their machine with RAM, somewhere in the vicinity of 8 GB. At the same time, Solid State Drives (SSDs) with very high random I/O rates and as low as possible latency issues will also contribute to getting close to 7.9. When it comes to graphics, users will need a card with at least DirectX 10 support and a WDDM 1.1 driver.
